Southern 100 reveal return of marshals discount scheme

MARSHALS will once again enjoy special discounts from the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company this year when they head to Southern 100 Road Races.

The agreement between the world’s oldest continuously operating passenger shipping company and the Southern 100 Marshals Association has already helped to attract additional marshals, and race chiefs expect the numbers will only grow.

“The scheme is available as a thank you to those that marshalled at the 2017 races,” said Chief Marshal Peter Chadwick. “The Marshals Association and the race organisers cannot thank the Steam Packet Company enough for their continued support.

“Marshals are a vital part of any road race meeting, none more so than at Billown.”

And Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward understands quite well the importance of trained course workers.

“Without sufficient number of marshals, events such as the Southern 100 wouldn’t happen,” he said. “Marshals are a vital element in the continued success of the Southern 100, and we are delighted to be able to help by continuing the discount scheme introduced for the 2017 meeting.

“We have been title sponsor for the Southern 100 for almost 20 years and will continue to work with the organisers to ensure the race meeting can continue to thrive for years to come.”
