Pinson back with a bang at Brands

In Bemsee, News

ELLIOT PINSON announced his return to the Team Green Junior Cup in perfect style as he scorched to three out of three wins at Brands Hatch.

The youngster, who has this year decided to come back to the Kawasaki championship he won back 2016, picked up exactly where he left off as he dominated the weekend at Bemsee’s first round of the year.

Despite missing Friday’s test day due to school commitments, the teen rocked up to the track on Saturday morning and qualified second on the grid, behind the Fastlane Motorcycles machine of Senior runner Jamie Kelman.

Kelman took the lead as the opening race got underway, and had almost a second in the bag by the end of the first lap ahead of Pinson.

But the former champ quickly narrowed the gap and took the lead on Lap Five, holding the spot to the chequered flag to take the win by just under a second.

Kelman took Senior honours, ahead of Michael Stone and Kai Dickinson, while James Dutton was the second Junior over the line, with Owen Jenner third.

Pinson was victorious again in Race Two, as he passed Kelman for the lead on the third lap, and this time won by 2.027secs.

Kelman was second and first Senior home, again ahead of Stone with Jeff Morris third. Brandon Sheriff was second out of the Junior runners, while James Dutton was third.

Jamie Kelman took a dominant win on Sunday and was the first Senior rider home in both races on Saturday…

But Kelman finally got to cross the line first on Sunday, as he took a dominant lights-to-flag victory of more than 14 seconds over Pinson.

However, this did little to hamper Pinson’s title hopes as he took maximum Junior points, ahead of Brandon Sheriff who was also third on the track and Owen Jenner who was third Junior home in ninth.

Second and third Senior honours went to Damian Rowley and Jeff Morris.

“It’s been a brilliant weekend, returning to racing again after almost a year out with Bemsee at Brands Hatch,” he said. “After missing practice on Friday I still managed three out of three wins, as the fourth race was cancelled due to track contamination.

“I was also amazed to be given the Team Green Junior rider of the day and the Bemsee rider of the day prizes – thank you to everyone who has made this possible”
