MUPO Suspension is making waves in the world of the motorcycle aftermarket, but what makes them stand out? UK Clubsport investigates…
Born out of a passion for development and testing by a man called Gian Luca Maselli in the early 1990’s, the Bologna-based suspension experts have been quietly creating successes around the race paddock for the better part of three decades.
The Italian firm enjoys great success within many of the world’s national championship series, including podiums in Italy’s superbike series, wins and championships in Brazil and Argentina’s top-drawer categories, titles in Germany’s IDM, and even being the spec kit for the CIV’s Pre-Moto3 category.
Longstanding Ducati test rider Michele Pirro and perpetual Spanish threat Xavi Fores have also found success with the suspension marque in their outings as part of the Barni Racing Team in the Superbike World Championship, the latter scoring a podium last year on his way to finishing ninth overall.
The company has even seen success on the roads in recent years, with riders in the International Road Racing Championship taking to the grids.
But it’s not just Mupo’s presence or trackside commitment that makes their product successful – even if they do equip 12 riders in the BSB’s Ducati TriOptions Cup series, nearly a quarter of the grid altogether, and station official support in both the BSB and ThundersportGB paddocks.
What makes them prominent is their technology, their patents and the time savings it affords anyone using their equipment, whether it’s at Auto 66 or the Superbike World Championship.
If we told you that changing your fork springs was a thing of the past, would you believe us? It’s dead simple engineering principle that allows Mupo to change the spring rate without changing the spring, thus changing the game.
Stay tuned next week as we break down Mupo’s revolutionary fork and shock technology, and show you some of the reasons club racers are knocking seconds off their personal best lap times every session.
