SUPERTWIN ace Jonny Towers took the fight to Cape Town this weekend as he dominated at Kilarney Raceway with two win aboard his second favourite Kawasaki.
The reigning Thundersport champion was straight back to winning ways at the South African circuit on Saturday after winning there nearly 12 months ago to take his 10th Killarney 8 Hour endurance title.
Admittedly missing his Ryan Farquhar-tuned KMR 650, Towers powered to a pair of demonstrative victories on a spare bike some 10 and 14 seconds clear of JP Freiderich and Chris Williams during the Western Province Motor Club season finale.
And despite bagging two thirds in the 150cc bike races behind winners Wesley Jones and Sam Lochoff and runner-up Kewyn Snyman, the RST boss admits the smaller machinery was still his favourite…
“We had a great weekend at Kilarney, I had a run out on my twin and got two wins,” he said. “But the best fun of the day was battling with the local youth on the Honda CBR150s.”
“We went toe to toe for 16 laps for blanket finishes with slipstream battles the whole race. Thank you to Paul Linaker and Danie Maritz for prepping my bikes and looking after me.”
