SOUTHERN 100 chiefs guarantee full grids at the Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races as they field nearly 300 entries.

The event, which celebrates its 30th year of action this season, boasts a nine-race programme for all types of machinery from 250cc singles to Classic Superbikes and Sidecars.

Last year, Bill Swallow and Mike Hose made history as they became the joint-most successful racers in Pre-TT history, leaving the 2017 races with 16 apiece.

And the two top classic aces will renew their rivalry this year as they take on the likes of Barry Davidson, Brian Mateer, Ewan Hamilton, Rich Hawkins, Jamie Coward, Chris McGahan, James Cowton, Alan Oversby, Ivan Lintin and more.

Of the 155 registered individual competitors, 23 will take on the Billown Course for the first time while a further 12 will make their Pre-TT debuts after having raced on the circuit previously.

Among the 14 European racers making the journey to the Isle of Man will be ex-500cc Grand Prix racer Bernard Fau, who will campaign a 250 twin and an 750 four-cylinder Yamaha.

The Pre-TT Classic Road Races get underway with practice on Friday evening, 25 May, followed by racing on Saturday and Sunday.
