Freddie Spencer to star at 2018 Castle Combe Grand National

In News, NG Road Racing

FAST Freddie Spencer will return to next year’s Castle Combe Grand National to headline its Year of the Legends celebrations.

The Grand Prix legend is back by popular demand and will join a growing list of other stars set for the event, including former 500cc GP racer and British champion, Steve Parrish.

The two day event – held over the weekend September 1-2 2018, will feature a full programme of NG Road Racing Club races, while the ACU/FSRA British F2 Sidecar Championship is also set to make its return.

Running alongside the race action will be a number of rider parades featuring a number of big names which will be released over the coming months, as well as the chance to meet the stars in the paddock.

Steve Parrish is looking forward to heading back to a circuit which has brought him podium honours in the past.

“I can lay claim to a podium finish – albeit on four wheels – when I last raced at Castle Combe, but I’ve ridden round there on bikes on many occasions,” he said.

“It’s an interesting track, full of character, and they are fantastic people who run it. The great thing about the event is that the race fans have chance to chat and mingle with the stars as there’s so much time to interact which isn’t always the case these days.

“I’m really looking forward to it, and not only meeting the fans but having a ride round on something too.”

Graham Marshallsay, Castle Combe Managing Director, added: “We are delighted to once again be working with NG Road Racing and due to moving the date to September, we are extremely pleased to be hosting the ACU/FSRA British F2 Sidecar Championship again.

“The event seems to go from strength to strength, and to be able to already announce the attendance of “Fast Freddie” Spencer and the legendary Steve Parrish proves the pull Castle Combe Circuit has in the motorcycle world.”
