Former Team Green champ Pinson back for Bemsee assault

ELLIOT Pinson is headed back to the clubs in a bid to reclaim the BMCRC Team Green Junior Cup championship he won just two years ago.

The 14-year-old bagged the Kawasaki-supported title in his rookie season with the club in 2016, before launching a campaign in the British Superbike Championship’s Motostar Moto3 Standard class last year.

But a start line crash at Oulton Park in May left Pinson with a broken leg which effectively ended his season after just two rounds of action. The Swindoner attempted to get back on his Moto3 bike at BSB’s Thruxton race, but found the pain too great.

Pinson tested his Ninja 300 at Mallory Park last week as he took to a full-sized track for the first time since breaking his leg at Oulton Park in May…

Despite the fracture, he still managed to take a stab at the British Talent Cup and have a few outings on minibikes to get back in the groove in recent months.

And now, Pinson says he’s raring to go as he looks to retake the Bemsee championship with a year back in the clubs.

“Last season was a disaster, that crash on the start line at Oulton ended my season,” he told UK Clubsport. “So the first step is just to get racing again and get used to riding as I haven’t ridden much since May last year, I’ve just been recovering from the broken leg.

“Obviously we would like to retake the championship again, just like any racer. But we don’t have any expectations at the moment until we’ve raced again.

“We don’t have the budget to go testing in Spain like many other riders and we can’t afford to race in the BSB Motostar series again without more sponsorship or support. So I’m doing the Team Green Junior Cup again as it’s great fun with Bemsee, and I just want to try and enjoy it again.”
