2017 Rising Star award: Lewis Paterson

In Awards, KMSC, News, Scottish Championship

YOUNG gun Lewis Paterson has taken UK Clubsport’s 2017 Rising Star award, beating a huge number of nominees on the way.

A mere 17 per cent of the total votes gave the Scotsman the edge, while fast female and soon-to-be Moto3 racer Jodie Fieldhouse narrowly missed out and took the runner-up spot with 15 per cent.

After a surge from the Irish supporters, British Talent Cup competitor Rhys Irwin and Stocktwin/Supertwin threat Eunan McGlinchey finished third and fourth with 13 and nine per cent, respectively.

Paterson all but dominated the Supertwin ranks up North this season, both at East Fortune and Knockhill, on his way to four Lightweight titles – the KMSC, Scottish, Melville Open and Melville Club championships.

And after a battle with some of the brightest two-wheeled hopefuls in the country, the Scone youngster earned a spot on the British Talent Cup programme for 2018 and was also chosen to take part in the Red Bull Rookies Cup selection event.
